Lindsey Vonn named to US Alpine ski team for 2026-27 World Cup season despite injury recovery

On October 8, 2026, the U.S. Alpine ski team announced that Lindsey Vonn, a three-time Olympic medalist, has been named to the squad for the 2026-27 World Cup season. This comes despite her uncertain future after a severe crash during the Olympic downhill at the Milano Cortina Olympics in February, where she suffered a complex tibia fracture. Vonn has undergone multiple surgeries and has not ruled out a return, but she has said she may not compete again. She was ranked 12th overall last season and fifth in the downhill standings. The season begins October 24 in Soelden, Austria.
