Jana Partners urges Six Flags to explore sale after losses and attendance drop
Jana Partners, a New York hedge fund, has urged Six Flags Entertainment Corporation's board to hire an investment bank to explore a sale. This comes after the theme park operator reported a net loss of $203 million in the second quarter, a significant increase from $100 million the previous year, and a 7% drop in guest visits. Jana Partners and NFL star Travis Kelce acquired a 9% stake in Six Flags last October. Six Flags stated it is committed to maximizing shareholder value. The company also faces lawsuits from three people who suffered brain injuries on its X2 roller coaster in California.
