British Olympic champion Katy Marchant retires from cycling after 13-year career

British track cyclist Katy Marchant, 33, has announced her retirement from elite cycling. Marchant, who won Olympic gold in the women's team sprint at the 2024 Paris Games, also claimed world and European titles that year. She previously won an individual sprint bronze at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Her decision came after helping England win silver at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Marchant, a mother of two, returned to competition after each birth and was a pioneer for mothers in track sprinting. She said she is proud of her career and looks forward to spending more time with her family.
