Huawei and Qualcomm sign multi-year patent licensing deal covering 5G, AI, and computing

On October 5, 2026, Huawei Technologies and Qualcomm announced a multi-year patent licensing agreement covering 5G, artificial intelligence, computing, and networking technologies. The deal includes Qualcomm's purchase of certain Huawei U.S. patents. This is the first licensing deal between the two companies that includes 5G. The agreement is expected to increase the total value of Huawei's patent licensing agreements to more than $6.9 billion. The deal follows a licensing agreement with HP announced in August and comes after the two companies resolved a patent dispute in 2020, when Huawei paid Qualcomm $1.8 billion.
