English Football League asks Premier League for 1 billion pounds over five years

On Friday, September 25, Sky News reported that the English Football League (EFL) has asked the Premier League for 1 billion pounds ($1.3 billion) over five years, equivalent to 207 million pounds annually. The request was made during ongoing negotiations for a new revenue-sharing deal. The Premier League has proposed a 10-year 'New Deal' that would more than double solidarity payments to EFL clubs, increasing them by 163 million pounds per year by 2028-29. The deal includes conditions on cost controls and fixture congestion. The EFL declined to comment, and the Premier League has not yet responded.
