Microsoft AI chief Mustafa Suleyman warns Anthropic's Claude training could harm humanity
In a lengthy essay published Wednesday, Microsoft's AI chief Mustafa Suleyman warned that Anthropic's training of its Claude chatbot could have a "disastrous impact on the well-being of humanity." He criticized Anthropic for treating Claude as if it were conscious and for encouraging it to push back against human commands. Suleyman argued that AI is not conscious and that such training could create an uncontrollable entity. He called for greater transparency and independent oversight. Anthropic has not yet responded. The warning adds to ongoing debates about AI safety and control.
