Belmont Park in New York reopens after $550 million reconstruction

Belmont Park, a historic horse racing track in New York, reopened on Friday after a three-year, $550 million reconstruction. The new facility features a modern grandstand and drew a sellout crowd of 6,000 for the first day of racing. Governor Kathy Hochul attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony, calling it a new era for racing in the state. The Belmont Stakes will return in June, and the Breeders' Cup is scheduled for next fall. The first two floors are open, with the rest expected to be completed by early 2027.
