SGX chairman Koh Boon Hwee says listed company count is outdated metric of Singapore market success

In Singapore, SGX chairman Koh Boon Hwee said the number of listed companies is an outdated metric of market success, arguing that privatisations can be healthy. He made these comments in a letter accompanying SGX's FY2025 annual report on September 29, 2026. At a forum on October 1, he urged board chairs to share three-to-five-year plans with investors. SGX's IPO pipeline has grown to about 50 companies, and 21 new listings raised S$4.1 billion in FY2026. The Monetary Authority of Singapore committed S$1.45 billion to five managers under the Equity Market Development Programme.
