Pakistan says Iran proposed political talks with Yemen's Houthis ahead of Riyadh meeting

Pakistan's Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said on October 2 that Iran has suggested engaging Yemen's Houthis politically after attacks by the group. The proposal will be discussed at an emergency meeting of the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement in Riyadh next week, involving Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan. Dar noted that Iran has distanced itself from the Houthis and that both Iranian leaders want the matter concluded. He also said there should be no fees for crossing the Strait of Hormuz, which is central to the US-Iran conflict.
