NATO commander urges European states to publicly blame Russia for sabotage and hybrid attacks

On September 28, 2026, NATO Supreme Allied Commander Europe Alexus Grynkewich told EU lawmakers that European countries should publicly attribute Russian sabotage and hybrid attacks to Moscow and strengthen support for Ukraine. He noted that the Eastern Sentry mission has reduced Russian drone incursions in the Baltics and Poland. Meanwhile, EU foreign affairs chief Kaja Kallas expressed regret over the EU's delisting of two Russian oligarchs, and Lithuanian and Swedish defence ministers called for increased pressure on Russia. The EU plans a new sanctions package on October 12.
