U.S. extends flight ban to Haiti's capital as violence escalates
The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration has extended its ban on flights to Haiti's capital, Port-au-Prince, until March 2, 2027, due to ongoing gang violence. This ban, first implemented in November 2025 after a shooting incident involving a Spirit Airlines flight, restricts U.S. registered civilian aircraft from flying below 10,000 feet in the area. The violence has resulted in gangs controlling a significant portion of the city, complicating efforts to restore order.
