In recent months, Sandfall Interactive has acknowledged the demand for a Nintendo Switch 2 version of their breakout RPG, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. The studio's chief technical officer, Tom Guillermin, highlighted the significant technical challenges involved in adapting the game for the new console. He noted that while the game was designed to be visually stunning, the Switch 2's hardware limitations compared to more powerful consoles like the PlayStation and Xbox Series X complicate the porting process. Additionally, many features of Unreal Engine 5, the technology used to develop the game, are not compatible with the Switch 2, which further complicates the adaptation efforts. Lead character artist Alan Reynaud mentioned that Epic Games is working on updates to Unreal Engine, such as Lumen Lite, which could potentially ease some of these challenges. However, the studio has not set a timeline for when a Switch 2 version might be available, as they are still exploring the feasibility of the project. Sandfall Interactive's CEO and creative director, Guillaume Broche, stated that it is too early to make any announcements regarding the game's release on the new platform, indicating that the studio is still in the early stages of assessing the technical requirements and potential solutions for a successful port.
