Netflix releases seven-part adaptation of John Steinbeck's East of Eden starring Florence Pugh

Zoe Kazan has adapted John Steinbeck's 1952 novel East of Eden into a seven-part Netflix miniseries, starring Florence Pugh as Cathy Ames. The story follows Adam Trask, a Civil War veteran, who marries Cathy and moves to California's Salinas Valley. After their twin sons are born, Cathy abandons the family. The series, which premiered on Netflix, expands the narrative beyond the 1955 film, drawing out subplots and character development. Critics have praised Pugh's performance, though some found the series too long. The adaptation is set in the United States.
