Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, brother of Dubai's ruler, dies at 76

Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the youngest brother of Dubai's ruler, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, died on Monday, September 21, 2026, at the age of 76. The Dubai Media Office announced his death, and the Ruler's Court declared ten days of official mourning across the emirate, with flags at half-mast. Sheikh Mohammed paid tribute on X, and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan sent condolences. Sheikh Ahmed served as Deputy Chairman of Dubai Police and was Group Chairman of ARM Holding. He founded Al Wasl Sports Club and the Dubai International Marine Club, and was known for philanthropy.
