Actor Mahershala Ali agrees with Marvel's Kevin Feige that Blade reboot failure was a major setback

In a recent interview on GQ's One More Question podcast, actor Mahershala Ali discussed the unproduced Marvel Studios reboot of "Blade." Ali agreed with Marvel president Kevin Feige's earlier statement that the failure to make the film was a major professional failure. Ali had been announced to star in 2019 and spent a year training, even injuring his knee, and moved his family to Atlanta. The project lost two directors and its release dates, and was delayed by the 2023 strike. Ali expressed frustration that Marvel's scheduling prevented other work, but said he was grateful the film didn't happen because it allowed director Bassam Tariq to work on another project.
