A recent study conducted by Say It With A Condom has revealed intriguing insights into the sexual behaviors and preferences of various states in the United States. The study introduced a 'Kink Index' that evaluates states based on factors such as visits to adult stores, frequency of sexual activity, and online searches related to sexual interests. New Mexico emerged as the most sexually adventurous state, boasting an impressive 10,585 racy Google searches per 1,000 people and an average of 2.06 sexual encounters per week. This high level of sexual curiosity is complemented by 6.5 visits to adult stores per million people each month, indicating a vibrant culture of exploration and openness towards various sexual practices.
Following New Mexico, Oregon ranked second with a Kink Score of 85.93, driven by the highest rate of adult store visits in the nation at 11.3 trips per million adults. Arkansas secured the third position with a score of 83.67, reflecting a healthy mix of sexual activity and online curiosity. Interestingly, Alaska reported the highest average frequency of sexual encounters at 2.81 times per week, while Vermont and North Dakota showed a significant interest in kink-related Google searches, each exceeding 1,000 searches per 10,000 residents.
In contrast, New York, known for its vibrant lifestyle, ranked 21st with a Kink Score of 52.05. New Yorkers reported having sex 1.39 times a week, slightly above the national average of 1.08, and made 432 kink-related searches per 10,000 people. Despite its reputation, the state revealed a penchant for sadism, virtual sex, and voyeurism. New Jersey, on the other hand, finished 43rd with a Kink Score of 32.74, with residents admitting to a love for exhibitionism. Texas, often perceived as conservative, ranked the lowest at 22.74, with surprising private interests in orgies.
The study highlighted a common theme across the states: a general reluctance to engage in public sex, as most Americans prefer privacy in their sexual activities. The findings challenge the stereotype that larger states, like California and Florida, would lead in sexual adventurousness, as California ranked 40th with a Kink Score of 34.16 and Florida finished 49th. Benjamin Sherman, CEO of Say It With A Condom, emphasized the importance of consent, communication, and protection in sexual exploration, encouraging individuals to have open discussions with their partners about their desires and to make safe choices.
