Ukrainian nonprofit Terrecon identifies 981 AI-generated pro-Russian war songs on major streaming platforms

A Ukrainian nonprofit organization called Terrecon has identified nearly 1,000 AI-generated songs that promote pro-Russian war propaganda on major streaming platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and Deezer. The songs, which range from ballads to heavy metal, glorify Russian soldiers and dehumanize Ukrainians, sometimes using ethnic slurs. Terrecon's research suggests that AI music generators have made it easier and cheaper to produce such content. The role of the Russian government is unclear, but the Kremlin has supported cultural projects promoting patriotic themes. Streaming platforms have inconsistent moderation, allowing many of these songs to be posted and played millions of times.
