Somalia faces severe hunger crisis as aid funding plummets
In Somalia, six million people are currently facing acute food insecurity due to a combination of drought, conflict, and reduced international aid. The World Food Program has reported a significant decrease in resources, having only a tenth of what was available in 2022. This has severely limited their ability to provide necessary assistance, particularly to malnourished children and pregnant women, as the humanitarian crisis continues to escalate.
