Gillian Anderson, the 58-year-old actor, was filmed outside her London West End show asking a group of fans not to sit in the front row because it was distracting. The video, taken on 3 October, went viral and sparked debate. Anderson later defended the fans, saying they were women she has known for over 20 years. She is starring in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? at Soho Place theatre.
