Report reveals Josh Hart's finger injury requires career-ending joint replacement, so he delays surgery until retirement

New York Knicks player Josh Hart said during training camp in Greenburgh, New York, that his damaged right ring finger can only be fixed with a full joint replacement, which would end his career. He plans to keep playing with the finger taped and have surgery after retirement. Hart injured the finger during the 2025 playoffs and re-injured it before the season. Despite the pain, he played a key role in the Knicks' first NBA championship since 1973, shooting a career-best 41.3% from three-point range. He is 31 and eligible for a contract extension.
