Story

In Central California, a tragic incident involving a three-year-old girl named Lailah Rosillo has led to a homicide investigation. Lailah drowned at Don Pedro Reservoir, also known as Lake Don Pedro, in Tuolumne County. The incident occurred more than a week ago, prompting local authorities to treat her death as suspicious. During a recent meeting of the Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors, Sheriff David Vasquez expressed the community's shock and grief over the loss, emphasizing the ongoing investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding her death. On July 18, the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a missing child who may have drowned in Fleming Meadows Lagoon at the reservoir. Emergency personnel arrived to find that bystanders had located Lailah and were administering CPR. Despite the rapid response from deputies, firefighters, and medics, Lailah could not be revived and was pronounced dead before she could be transported for advanced medical care. A GoFundMe campaign later identified her and highlighted the profound impact of her loss on her family and community. Family friend Yolanda Muro described Lailah as a bright and beautiful girl whose smile brought joy to those around her. Muro shared that Lailah was deeply loved by her family, which includes an older brother, an older sister, and a baby brother, all of whom are mourning her loss. The community has rallied around the family during this difficult time, reflecting on the tragedy that turned what was meant to be a joyful camping trip into an unimaginable nightmare. Authorities are actively seeking assistance from the public to help solve the mystery of Lailah's drowning. They are particularly interested in any photos or videos that may show her on a raft or boat with other children on the day of the incident. Additionally, they are looking to speak with witnesses who may have seen Lailah before she was pulled from the water, as well as anyone who may have information about the large raft she was reportedly playing on prior to her death. The investigation remains ongoing as the community seeks answers and justice for Lailah Rosillo.
