Toys "R" Us to open 120 new standalone stores in the United States by 2026

Toys "R" Us, the American toy retailer, announced on Thursday a major expansion plan to open 120 new standalone stores across the United States by the end of 2026. The company, which currently operates 40 standalone stores and shops inside Macy's, is partnering with Go! Retail Group. The announcement was made by Jamie Uitdenhowen, Executive Vice President at WHP Global, the brand's parent company. This move follows the company's bankruptcy in 2017 and its subsequent revival under new ownership. The expansion is driven by a surge in toy sales, with adults now accounting for 55% of purchases. The new stores will feature popular toys and experiential spaces.
