In the United States, Starz is currently in production for a new prequel series titled Power: Origins. This series is set to follow the younger years of iconic characters from the Power franchise, specifically James 'Ghost' St. Patrick, Tommy Egan, and Kanan Stark. The production comes as Power Book III: Raising Kanan is nearing the conclusion of its five-season narrative, which is expected to wrap up this summer. The new series aims to delve into the backstories of these fan-favorite characters, showcasing their early friendship and their initial foray into the drug business under Kanan's guidance.
The teaser trailer and first-look photos released recently highlight the teenage versions of Ghost and Tommy, played by Spence Moore and Charlie Mann, respectively. MeKai Curtis will reprise his role as Kanan Stark, a character he has portrayed in previous installments of the franchise. The original Power series, which aired from 2014 to 2020, featured Omari Hardwick as Ghost and Joseph Sikora as Tommy, establishing a complex relationship between the two characters that evolved throughout the series.
In addition to the main trio, Power: Origins will feature a diverse cast, including Hill Harper, Nadia Dajani, Kelly McCreary, Damon Gupton, and Tonya Pinkins, who will portray Ghost's grandmother.
