Boyle praised O'Connell's performances in Back to Black and his upcoming film Ink. O'Connell is not considered a frontrunner, with names like Jack Lowden and Callum Turner more prominent. The official casting for Bond 26 has not been announced, but producer Barbara Broccoli hinted at an announcement by the end of 2026. Production is expected to start in 2027.
