China's 13-year-old swimmer Yu Zidi tops heats at Asian Games in Tokyo

At the Asian Games in Tokyo on Sunday, China's 13-year-old swimmer Yu Zidi qualified fastest for the women's 200m butterfly final, while Olympic champion Pan Zhanle led the men's 100m freestyle heats. Japan's Tomoyuki Matsushita topped the men's 200m individual medley. The swimming competition opened with China aiming to improve on its 28-gold haul from 2023, while Japan seeks better results after winning only five golds in 2023. South Korea, who finished second in 2023, also compete.
