Former LSU coach Jerry Stovall passes away at 85

In Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Jerry Stovall, a former LSU football coach and player, died at 85 on August 31, 2026. Stovall was a standout athlete at LSU from 1960 to 1962, earning All-American honors and finishing second in the Heisman Trophy voting. He later played nine seasons in the NFL with the St. Louis Cardinals and returned to LSU as a coach, leading the team to an Orange Bowl appearance in 1982.
