Saudi Arabia launches 26 airstrikes on Yemen's capital Sanaa, Houthis say
On October 3, 2026, Yemen's Houthi rebels said Saudi Arabia launched 26 airstrikes on Sanaa, the capital, which they control. The strikes were reported by the Houthi-affiliated Almasirah channel, and an AFP correspondent heard explosions and saw fighter jets. This is part of renewed fighting that began in July after Iran sent a Houthi delegation to Sanaa without Saudi authorization. The conflict has also seen Houthi attacks on Saudi oil facilities and a naval blockade. The fighting has worsened Yemen's humanitarian crisis, with the World Food Programme warning that three-quarters of the population cannot meet basic food needs.
