Chinese robot Lightning breaks Usain Bolt's 100m world record

In Beijing, China, a humanoid robot named Lightning ran 100 meters in 9.32 seconds, surpassing Usain Bolt's previous world record of 9.58 seconds. This achievement occurred during a preparatory event for the World Humanoid Robot Games, which began on August 22, 2026. Lightning also won the Beijing half marathon in April 2026, completing the race in 50 minutes and 26 seconds, faster than the elite men's human world-record pace.
