Indian Coast Guard rescues survivors from sunken cargo vessel
On August 22, 2026, the MV Ocean Winner sank in the Bay of Bengal, prompting a rescue operation by the Indian Coast Guard. The vessel, carrying iron ore from Paradip port, lost communication and issued a distress alert before sinking. Of the 24 crew members, which included 20 Chinese, three Myanmar nationals, and one Bangladeshi, two have been rescued from life rafts. The cause of the sinking is still under investigation.
