Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky says Ukraine ready to de-escalate war if Russia reciprocates
On Monday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Ukraine was ready to de-escalate the war with Russia if Russia did the same, following US President Donald Trump's announcement that both sides agreed to stop strikes on energy targets. Zelensky noted Russia had not shown genuine desire to end the war. Meanwhile, Russian strikes on Ukraine's rail network have worsened, and EU countries delayed sanctions renewal after France sought to remove billionaire Alisher Usmanov from the blacklist. The US House approved a sanctions package targeting Russian officials and key sectors, which Ukraine sees as a potential economic tool to pressure Moscow.
