Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian says Tehran wants a deal with the U.S. to end the war before November midterm elections

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, speaking at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, said on Thursday that his government is willing to make a deal with the United States to end the ongoing war before the U.S. midterm elections in November. He stated, "We don't want it to get to the midterm elections." This comes as President Trump believes a deal is unlikely until after the elections. The war, which began on February 28, has caused thousands of deaths and displaced millions. Pezeshkian also denied any plot to assassinate Trump and expressed openness to nuclear inspections.
