Houston Astros shortstop Carlos Correa out for season with ankle inflammation

Houston Astros shortstop Carlos Correa will not return this season due to inflammation in his left ankle, manager Joe Espada announced Tuesday. Correa had surgery on May 11 and was nearing a return, but increased activity caused a flare-up. The team decided to shut him down and focus on his readiness for spring training next year. The Astros are in a tight AL West race, leading the Texas Rangers by one game. Correa was hitting .279 with three home runs and 16 RBIs this season.
