Freed Israeli hostages describe changed lives after release from Hamas captivity in Gaza

In Israel, former hostages seized by Hamas on October 7, 2023, are speaking about their experiences. Emily Damari, released in January 2025, said freedom changed her view of life and that gratitude is now central to her. Eli Sharabi, from Kibbutz Be'eri, said he learned how precious every moment is and chooses life. Hagar Brodutch, taken from Kfar Aza with her children, said life after captivity is complicated and she chose pastry as therapy. Aviva Siegel, released in November 2023, joined the hostage release campaign while her husband was still held.
