Boeing finds software glitch in 737 Max landing navigation system

Boeing has identified a software glitch in its 737 Max aircraft that could cause an automated navigation feature to fail during landing. The issue was reported by the Wall Street Journal on September 26, 2026. Boeing informed all 737 operators in August about the problem and is working on a software update. The Federal Aviation Administration is aware and will convene a review board if needed. Southwest Airlines and United Airlines have requested aircraft with earlier software.
