Venezuela's government and opposition are close to a deal to move $4 billion in gold from the Bank of England to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, according to the Financial Times. The agreement would end a nearly eight-year legal dispute over the gold, which Britain has withheld since 2019. Under the deal, interim President Delcy Rodriguez would gain legal control but not immediate access to sell. The reserve could be used as collateral for borrowing, including for reconstruction after June's earthquakes. The UK says it is not involved in the legal case. The deal comes as Trump plans a meeting with Rodriguez.
