Singapore's Tiffany Teo wins first Asian Games mixed martial arts medal for her country

At the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan, mixed martial arts made its debut. On September 20, Singapore's Tiffany Teo defeated Iran's Arezou Salimighalehtaki 3-0 in the women's 60kg quarter-final, guaranteeing her at least a bronze medal and making her Singapore's first Asian Games MMA medallist. India's Suchika Tariyal also secured a bronze after beating Mongolia's Altanchimeg Baigalmaa. Teo and Tariyal were scheduled to meet in the semi-finals on September 21, with the winner advancing to the final on September 22. The competition uses modified rules aimed at Olympic inclusion.
