British author and former politician Jeffrey Archer dies at 86 in London
Jeffrey Archer, the British novelist and former Conservative politician, died on Monday, October 5, 2026, at age 86, according to his publisher HarperCollins. Archer sold over 300 million books worldwide, including "Kane & Abel." He had a brief political career under Margaret Thatcher but was convicted of perjury in 2001 and sentenced to four years in prison. He was released on parole in 2003. His final novel, "Adam and Eve," was due out this month.
